Modelling dust transport in DIII-D with DTOKS-Upgrade

چکیده

Abstract Comprehensive upgrades to the dust transport code Dust in TOKamaks (DTOKS) that extend plasma-dust interaction model are presented and compared with recent measurements of DIII-D. Simulations incorporating variation physical properties graphite temperature size a stationary plasma background suggest substantial decrease lifetimes due principally thermal expansion. The trajectories 53 grains identified from analysis visible camera data taken across two similar shots were used measure particle velocity distributions. tracks terminated mostly at outer divertor strike point having mean observation time 2.1 ± 0.4 ms. Stochastic modelling 200 particles DIII-D tokamak performed DTOKS-U using simulations generated by OEDGE found behaviour, ablating rapidly after acquiring positive charge region close point, creating an acute source neutral carbon atoms. simulated lifetime, 11 2 ms, showed approximate agreement experimental when corrected accounting for visibility ignoring longest 1.5 0.2 Synthetic diagnostic coupling results visualisation software Calcam offers powerful new tool validation predictive calculations dynamics.

EX/9-3 Dust Studies in DIII-D and TEXTOR

Studies of naturally occurring and artificially introduced carbon dust are conducted in DIII-D and TEXTOR. In DIII-D, dust does not present operational concerns except immediately after entry vents. Energetic plasma disruptions produce significant amounts of dust. However, dust production by disruptions alone is insufficient to account for the estimated in-vessel dust inventory in DIII-D. Submi...

An upgrade of the magnetic diagnostic system of the DIII-D tokamak for non-axisymmetric measurements.

The DIII-D tokamak magnetic diagnostic system [E. J. Strait, Rev. Sci. Instrum. 77, 023502 (2006)] has been upgraded to significantly expand the measurement of the plasma response to intrinsic and applied non-axisymmetric "3D" fields. The placement and design of 101 additional sensors allow resolution of toroidal mode numbers 1 ≤ n ≤ 3, and poloidal wavelengths smaller than MARS-F, IPEC, and VM...

DIII-D edge plasma simulations with UEDGE code including non-diffusive anomalous cross-field transport

Recently, both Alcator C-Mod and DIII-D tokamaks observed fast anomalous cross-field plasma transport in the SOL. These observations supported by theoretical studies have indicated that such transport is essentially non-diffusive and intermittent. We present the results of macroscopic plasma simulations with the UEDGE transport code including anomalous cross-field outward-directed convection fo...
